Given the completely unfavorable balance of power (geostrategic, military and political), between Cyprus and Turkey, the possible solution to the Cyprus issue, on the basis of a democratic, functional and viable setilement to the benefit of all the lawful residents of the Republic of Cyprus, calls for a clear definition and understanding of Turkey’s strategic goals. It requires the adoption of a corresponding strategy and tactics, which would render the Turkish goals unachievable and cause a disproportionate political and economic cost on Ankara. Only then will Ankara be compelled to abandon its arrogance and to enter into a dialogue with goodwill and constructive disposition.
